1988 Citroen 2CV

Sold

Location: Cranleigh

Similar to its German Cousin the Volkswagen Beetle, the Citroen 2CV was created in the 1930s to make motorcars affordable to regular people. Going into large scale production in the late 1940s, it featured an air cooled boxer engine at the same end as the drive axle which negated the need for a lengthy drive shaft often associated with other cars at this time. A very familiar and recognisable vehicle these days, it's one of the few cars in production that remained as a single generation for over 40 years.

This 1988 2CV really is one to get excited about - with only 2 owners from new, father and son, it has been subject to major restoration work and it is absolutely stunning. The previous owner spent significant money on the rebuild, including a brand new body, and we have a comprehensive and photographic history file which documents the work.

As the pictures show, the car is in very good order inside and out. Finished in the original striking pillar box red colour, the interior is immaculate and under the floor mats is exceptional. In addition to the new body, the car is fitted with a galvanised chassis which means there is absolutely no corrosion making it a very rare example.

In keeping with the body, the suspension and tyres were replaced or repaired during the restoration and therefore it starts, runs and drives fantastically.

The car has done 81,000 miles and is MOT'd until March 2024.
