1978 MG Midget

Sold

Location: Cranleigh

The MG Midget is a small, lightweight, two-seater sports car produced by MG from 1961 to 1979. It's known for being a fun, versatile, and affordable classic car. The name "Midget" was also used on earlier MG models, including the M-type, D-type, J-type, and T-type.

This MG Midget was first registered in Glasgow on the 3rd of October in 1978, more recently it had made its way to Cumbria and now down as far as Surrey.

The engine has been professionally stripped and rebuilt, including rebore to +20, new pistons and the crank has also been reground. The cylinder head has also been reconditioned and it runs superb as you would expect. It also has a stainless steel exhaust and genuine Cherry Bomb rear box which sounds great.

It drives faultlessly, and handles great, new tyres all round as well as a complete hydraulic brake overhaul.

The interior has had new carpets and the dash is probably in the best condition we have ever seen, the seats are in good order although the drivers has had slight repair.

The hood is brand new, and the frame has been reconditioned, vermilion paintwork shines however there are a number of bubbles around the panels. The underside is corrosion free, it is not a patchwork quilt or covered in thick underseal!

The V5 is present as well as a history file which shows receipts for the recent work, we also have a heritage certificate included in the sale.
