1973 MG B GT V8

£9,250

Location: Petworth

Launched in August 1973, the V8 powered MGBGT combined the popular fixed head coupe body style with a powerful three and half litre light alloy V8 engine. The Rover powerplant ran with a reduced compression ratio but an increased torque compared with the similar engines then used in the Rover saloons. The result transformed the MGB, creating a very nimble car with the luxury of multi-cylinder power which was both flexible and economical – features which continue to have a special appeal for V8 enthusiasts today.

The heritage certificate indicates that this MG B GT V8 was built in 1973, in more recent times it has undergone a full restoration to the running gear, this includes a full engine rebuild. The engine runs faultlessly and sounds fantastic. It has great oil pressure and had a full service earlier this year.

The drivetrain has also been well maintained, there are no nasty noises, the gears are direct and the clutch in good order.

The body is very solid, there is no corrosion to the underside and any work has been carried out to a good standard. The paintwork is very much of a usable condition, a decent machine polish and weekends TLC would go a long way and if you’re looking to take the car to the next level a respray is another option.

The interior is in original condition, there is the usual wear and tear but on the whole is good. Very much like the exterior improvements car be made.

There is a large history file which details the work carried out, the car comes with the current V5 as well as a genuine set of V8 wheels.
