The Austin-Healey Sprite is a small open sports car produced in the United Kingdom from 1958 until 1971. The Sprite was announced to the press in Monte Carlo by the British Motor Corporation on 20 May 1958, two days after that year's Monaco Grand Prix. It was intended to be a low-cost model that "a chap could keep in his bike shed", yet be the successor to the sporting versions of the pre-war Austin Seven.
This Austin Healey Sprite was first registered 1960 in Sussex, and more recently spent a number of years in Bristol before returning back to us in Sussex.
The engine starts and runs well, it has been fitted with the larger 1275cc A series engine which has been rebuilt and has a high lift cam fitted.
The drivetrain is as you would expect with no nasty noises, the gears are direct and the clutch smooth. It handles fantastically, again fitted with modifications to the suspension, steering and the brakes have also been uprated to front discs and pads.
The bodywork is in great shape, there is no corrosion to the underside and it is not covered in thick under seal hiding any sins. The paintwork has been finished to a high standard and really does look great. The wheels have been refurbished and new tyres fitted.
The interior was retrimmed during the restoration, including the carpets. It comes complete with the hard top but also a hood and tonneau cover.
We have a large history file including the current V5.
