The Austin-Healey Sprite is a small open sports car produced in the United Kingdom from 1958 until 1971. The Sprite was announced to the press in Monte Carlo by the British Motor Corporation on 20 May 1958, two days after that year's Monaco Grand Prix. It was intended to be a low-cost model that "a chap could keep in his bike shed", yet be the successor to the sporting versions of the pre-war Austin Seven.
According to the Heritage Certificate this Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite was originally registered on the 22nd July 1960 in North East London.
The car has been in long term ownership since 1991, and was extensively restored during that time. We have a photographic file which shows the car completely stripped down, upside and having new floor pans fitted.
The engine is as sweet as a nut and is the larger 1098cc, it has bags of power and sounds great, of course fully stripped and inspected during the restoration.
The drivetrain is no exception and was again fully stripped and inspected. The suspension has also been overhauled and a servo brake system added. It handles fantastically and really is a pleasure to drive.
As you can imagine there is no corrosion to the underside what so ever, it is as clean on the underside as it is on top!
Finished in old English white the car was resprayed during the restoration which was completed a few years ago, it has now mellowed nicely and although not concours it is very nice.
The interior was completely replaced and is in lovely order, there is full wet weather gear including side screens and a tonneau cover.
We have a large history file including the V5 and pictures of the restoration.
