Fordson was a brand name of tractors and trucks. It was used on a range of mass produced general purpose tractors manufactured by Henry Ford & Son Inc from 1917 to 1920, by Ford Motor Company and Ford Motor Company Ltd from 1920 to 1928, and by Ford Motor Company Ltd alone from 1929 to 1964.
This 1957 Fordson Diesel Major is equipped with a heavy duty Boughton HDF-2 winch.
The engine runs very well, it starts instantly with no excess smoke. There is no frost damage or coolant leaks. All fluids are in the correct places and requires no attention.
The transmission is in good order, it is very quiet and makes no nasty noises. The brakes are very good and work very well.
It is fitted with new tyres all round including inner tubes. The steering is very light and holds the road well.
The Boughton HDF-2 winch is in good order, it is undamaged and looking at the wear marks it has not been abused in its working life.
The tractor is ready to work or play.
