1954 Triumph TR2

Sold

Location: Petworth

The Triumph TR2 is a sports car produced by the Standard Motor Company in the United Kingdom from 1953 to 1955. It was most commonly available in open two-seater form.

This 1954 TR2 was originally registered in Exeter, and spent some years in America, before making its way back to the UK where it was reunited with its current and original registration. More recently the car has spent a number of years in Hampshire, and is now offered for sale with us in Sussex.

The engine is very strong, it starts and runs well. It is believed to be a fast road engine and has been tuned by the AOC Motor Company in Borden, it goes really well, it sounds great and has good oil pressure.

The drivetrain is in good order, there are no nasty noises, the gears are direct, the clutch smooth and also has the added option of overdrive which is in working order. The TR handles like it’s on rails and genuinely is a pleasure to drive and feels like true British sports car.

The bodywork is very solid and there is no corrosion to the underside. It has been well looked after and is just as clean underneath as it is on top. The paintwork is in good condition, it isn’t immaculate but does polish up and shine well.

The interior is in good condition, it has been retrimmed at some point and has now mellowed with the rest of the car. It comes with a full tonneau cover and full wet weather gear.

We have a large history file which documents the cars life in detail. It is believed to have been rebuilt and restored by Bill Piggott who was very much the TR guru at the time.
