The Citroën Light 15 or Traction Avant, as it's known in France, were produced by the French carmaker Citroën between 1934 to 1957. The range of mostly 4-door saloons and executive cars, were the world's first monocoque-bodied, front-wheel drive, mass-production car. They were produced with four- and six-cylinder engines and with some 760,000 units built, the Traction Avant was the first front-wheel drives made in such quantity.
This 1954 Citroen Light 15, a french edition built in Paris, is a lovely example of the car. It starts and runs fabulously and rides along very nicely with no knocks or bangs. The engine is strong and sounds great and the gear change is very direct and smooth. The hydraulic brakes work as expected - there are no major leaks and all fluids are in the correct places.
The paintwork, although aged, shines up beautifully. There are some marks and chips around it as you would expect from something of this age. The underside is in exceptional condition and as far as we can see it’s never been welded.
The interior has been re-trimmed with the correct fabric that would have been originally used by Citroen and is in excellent order.
The car comes with a lot of history and paperwork including the V5 logbook.
