1953 Morris Six Series MS

Sold

Location: Cranleigh

The Morris Six Series MS is a six-cylinder midsize car from Morris Motors Limited. Produced from 1948 to 1953, it was their first post war car. All the new cars were of integral construction of chassis and body and rode on independent front suspension with torsion bars. The car was originally priced at £607, although quickly rose to £671 on 1 March 1949.

This is a very unusual Morris - there really aren't many of this particular model still around. The company Oxford Diecast used this exact car for their Morris 6 1:76 model - even replicating the red interior and number plate!

Mechanically, the car is very pleasant to drive. The big 6 cylinder engine purrs along and runs very nicely, the column gear change is smooth and the clutch is light. The steering is direct, it drives well with no major knocks or bangs and the brakes work as well as one would expect. Finally, the underside of the car is very solid and it benefits from new tyres all round.

The traditional black paintwork is tidy and presentable but far from immaculate. As shown in the pictures, the interior is original and the seats are in very good order.

The car is an older restoration and it would definitely benefit from being owned by the right person who is willing to get involved. It is a usable classic with the opportunity for improvement and the buyer should bear this in mind when viewing. It has been valued realistically based on its current condition and the price reflects this.

The car will come with the Oxford Diecast model, a box of spares and is complete with manuals and some history as well as the current V5.
