1937 Austin 7 Ruby

Sold

Location: Cranleigh

The Ruby model was introduced towards the end of the Seven production and represented quite a refined car compared with its earlier siblings. The interior was well trimmed, the seats comfortable and it had a front opening windscreen, sliding sunroof and wind-down windows to the front and rear. Still powered by the 747cc engine, the four-speed gearbox boasted synchromesh in 2nd, 3rd and fourth gears.

This Austin 7 Ruby was first registered in 1937 in Portsmouth where the car has remained local for most of its life.

The Ruby starts and runs very nicely, there is no frost damage and all fluids are in the correct places, it has good oil pressure and a new 6V battery has been fitted.

The drive train is very nice, there are no nasty noises, the clutch is perfect and the gears direct.

Finished in maroon the paintwork is stunning, it is not concours but it is very nice! There is no corrosion to the underside and overall has been highly restored.

The interior is in good order, during the restoration what was needed was replaced which included the headlining.

We have a large history file including the V5.
