1936 Austin 7 Ruby

The Ruby and Pearl model were introduced towards the end of the Seven production and represented quite a refined car compared with its earlier siblings. The interior was well trimmed, the seats comfortable and it had a front opening windscreen, sliding sunroof and wind-down windows to the front and rear. Still powered by the 747cc engine, the four-speed gearbox boasted synchromesh in 2nd, 3rd and fourth gears.

This Austin 7 Ruby was first registered on the 19th November 1936 in Guildford, it hasn’t travelled far and more recently has spent some time in West Sussex.

The engine is running well and goes along nicely, it sounds as it should and has good oil pressure.

The drivetrain is typical of an Austin 7, there are no nasty noises and it does everything it’s meant to. It handles well and has a good feel about it.

The bodywork is very solid, it is an older restoration but cleans up well and presents nicely. The paintwork isn’t immaculate but shines well and has plenty of character.

The interior has been retrimmed at some point and is in lovely order with no rips or tears.
