1935 Austin 7 Ruby Van
£7,750
Location: Cranleigh
The Ruby model was introduced towards the end of the Seven production and represented quite a refined car compared with its earlier siblings. The interior was well trimmed, the seats comfortable and it had a front opening windscreen, sliding sunroof and wind-down windows to the front and rear. Still powered by the 747cc engine, the four-speed gearbox boasted synchromesh in 2nd, 3rd and fourth gears.
This 1935 Austin 7 Ruby is up and running and goes along very nicely. It originally started life as a car and has been converted in more recent years. It has not been over restored and the condition is probably very similar to how a van would have been when new.
The engine runs well, the gear change is direct and the clutch good. There are no noises from the drive train. We have recently driven it around the village and it bombed along very happily. It is fitted with a new 6V battery as well as new tyres all round.
Overall the paint work is good however it is certainly not concourse standard and if you’re looking for perfection then the van probably isn’t for you. The seats are in good order with no rips or tears.
The restoration was carried out by a previous owner and like most vintage vehicles there are many areas where you may like to make your own mark.
The van does have a current V5 present, but, unfortunately, there is no further paperwork.
