1935 Austin 7 Ruby
Sold
The Ruby and Pearl model were introduced towards the end of the Seven production and represented quite a refined car compared with its earlier siblings. The interior was well trimmed, the seats comfortable and it had a front opening windscreen, sliding sunroof and wind-down windows to the front and rear. Still powered by the 747cc engine, the four-speed gearbox boasted synchromesh in 2nd, 3rd and fourth gears.
This Austin 7 Ruby was first registered on the 1st December 1935 in Bristol and more recently found its way to Birmingham.
The engine starts and runs very well, it sounds great and has a good oil pressure.
The drivetrain is in good order, the gears are direct and there are no nasty noises. It drives along very nicely and is certainly one of the better cars we have driven.
The body is very solid, it has clearly been restored at some point and was likely not far of concours when first completed. It has now mellowed and although far from immaculate it does shine up nicely.
The interior is in good condition, the head lining and front seat bases have been retrimmed but otherwise the rest is largely original.
We have a large history file including the current V5.
