1934 Riley 9 Kestrel

Sold

Location: Cranleigh

The Riley Nine was one of the most successful light sporting cars produced by the British motor industry in the inter war period. It was made by the Riley company of Coventry, England with a wide range of body styles between 1926 and 1938.

This Riley 9 was first registered in Oxford on the 28th March 1934. In more recent times it has spent a number of years in West Sussex.

The engine starts and runs well, it has a new 12V battery, good oil pressure, and all fluids are in the correct places. There is evidence in the history file of the running gear being over hauled.

The drivetrain is in good order, the gears are direct and the clutch is smooth. There are no nasty noises and the brakes are as you would expect.

The body is in good order, the car under went a major no expense spared restoration, anything that was required was replaced. The paintwork has now mellowed nicely, it would benefit from a really good polish however that depends on your own personal choice.

The interior is in lovely order, there are no rips or tears, the carpets are no exception and the head lining just the same.

The Riley has been stood a few years and only recently been woken from its slumber, the car drives well but as you would expect from a car that's been stood, it gets better every time you drive it, the tyres are unfortunately perished so you may like to replace these sooner rather than later.

We have a large history file including the current V5.
