1934 Austin 7 RP

The Austin 7 is an economy car that was produced from 1923 until 1939. It was nicknamed the "Baby Austin" and was, at that time, one of the most popular cars produced for the British market. Its effect on the British market was similar to that of the Model T Ford in the US, replacing most other British economy cars of the early 1920s.

This Austin 7 RP was first registered in May 1934 in Chelmsford, more recently “Beverley” as she’s affectionately known has spent a number of years in Berkshire.

The engine is up and running and sounds very sweet, it has a new 6V battery and has good oil pressure. It starts and runs well and goes along nicely.

The drivetrain is typical of an Austin 7, there are no nasty noises, the gears are direct and the clutch how you would expect.

The Austin is an older restoration, it is very solid, and there is no corrosion to the underside. The paintwork presents well and polishes up nicely, it is far from immaculate and has gained character and charm over the years.

The interior is lovely, it looks to have been retrimmed at some point and remains in good condition overall.
