1931 Austin 7 Boat Tail

Sold

Location: Cranleigh

One of the rarer bodies found on an Austin 7, the Boat Tail has a distinctive semi-fabric style as part of its shapely rear. It was seen as a low-cost alternative for individuals seeking a little elegance and style while remaining usable and practical.

This 1931 example really is as good as it looks. The car has won numerous prizes and really is a credit to the people involved in restoring it. The exterior and interior are both fabulous and finished to an extremely high standard. The distinctive blue paintwork is some of the best we have seen.

The boat tail really is a smooth ride. It drives along very nicely - the running gear has been completely rebuilt at the time of the restoration and some period modifications were added to the engine at the same time which means it easily keeps up with modern day traffic.

The car featured in the 1930's “Autocar” magazine and we are lucky enough to have a copy that is included in the sale.
