1929 Rosengart LR4

The Rosengart LR4 is a significant pre-war French compact car debuted at the 1930 Paris Motor Show and produced from 1931 onwards by Automobiles L. Rosengart. Founded by engineer Lucien Rosengart, the company originally built the predecessor LR2 under license as a French counterpart to the British Austin Seven. However, the LR4 marked a major evolution, heavily differentiating itself from its British roots with a roomier chassis, distinct styling, and a diverse range of factory body styles

If your unfamiliar with the Rosengart, it’s running gear and drivetrain is exactly the same as an Austin 7, the chassis is Rosengarts own as are the body styles. There is a bit of a grey area as to when the first LR4 was produced, this car is registered as 1929 with numbers that match the paperwork, however as mentioned above it’s thought the first LR4 debuted in 1930.

The engine on this Rosengart is very sweet, it runs well and has good oil pressure. It’s very perky and bombs along nicely.

The drivetrain is very typical of an Austin 7, there are no nasty noises and it handles generally better than a 7 being bigger with more robust wheels.

The car is very much an older restoration, the paintwork does shine after a polish but very much a condition that could be used what ever the weather.

The interior has been replaced during its restoration and remains in good condition, we do also have a hood frame included in the sale.
