1927 Austin 7 Chummy
Sold
Location: Cranleigh
The Austin 7 is an economy car that was produced from 1923 until 1939. It was nicknamed the "Baby Austin" and was, at that time, one of the most popular cars produced for the British market. Its effect on the British market was similar to that of the Model T Ford in the US, replacing most other British economy cars of the early 1920s.
This Austin 7 Chummy was first registered in June 1927 in London, it has spent a number of years as part of an Austin collection before coming to us in Surrey.
The engine starts and runs well, and is fitted with the correct magneto engine as well as a new 6V battery. There is no frost damage or coolant leaks.
The drivetrain is in good order, the clutch is good and the gears direct. The brakes are amazingly good, and looks to have new cables fitted recently. It handles well and has refurbished wheels and new tyres fitted.
The body is in good shape, the paintwork is far from immaculate and sports a lot of character. The interior has been retrimmed with no rips or tears.
It is complete with full wet weather gear including side screens, the hood has been replaced at some point and is still in perfect order.
We have a large amount of history including the current V5.
