1926 Rolls Royce 20HP Park Ward Landaulette
£28,950
Location: Cranleigh
The Rolls-Royce Twenty was Rolls-Royce's "small car", produced from 1922 to 1929 alongside the 40/50 Silver Ghost and the successor to the 40/50, the Phantom. It was intended to appeal to owner-drivers but many were sold to customers with chauffeurs.
Chassis number GMJ 24 is a 1926 Rolls Royce 20HP with a Parkward Landaulette body (# 2946). Final tests were completed on the 29.11.1926 before going to Myers & Burrell who provided the Parkward body as a demonstration 4 wheel brake car. Special attention was made to the chassis by Rolls-Royce. The car was later sold to its first true owner Mr S B Wright.
The car is running fantastically and it really is a joy to drive! In recent years it has received a high amount of attention to the engine including a bottom end rebuild. As expected the engine is very smooth and quiet, there is no frost damage and all fluids are in the correct places. The transmission and drive train are in lovely order, the gear change is direct and clutch smooth. 1926 was the first year 4 wheel brakes were introduced and these work very well - stopping isn’t an issue which helps driving in modern day traffic.
The exterior is finished in a lovely shade of red which contrasts nicely with the black upper part of the body and wings. When painted it was finished to a very high standard and has mellowed nicely with plenty of character. Although not immaculate, it still shines well and presents nicely.
The interior is in good order. More unusually it is fitted with rear occasional seats meaning 6 people can travel in the car comfortably. The wood is nice and it is also fitted with a rear division which goes up and down on a handle. The Landaulette part of the body is in working order and it opens and closes correctly as expected.
The car comes complete with history and paperwork including V5 as well as full chassis cards from the RREC.
