1926 Austin 7 Chummy

Sold

Location: Cranleigh

The Austin 7 is an economy car that was produced in the UK from 1923 until 1939. Nicknamed the "Baby Austin", at that time it was one of the most popular cars produced for the British market. Its impact in the UK was similar to that of the Model T Ford in the US, replacing most other British economy cars and cyclecars of the early 1920s.

This is a stunning little car. Having been highly restored it's a fine example of an Austin 7 Chummy and really is a lovely thing. The full body off restoration was a no expense spared project and there is a photographic history file included. We have receipts which include a full engine rebuilt, as well as the gearbox and rear axle. The engine runs very sweetly and as you can imagine it drives very nicely with no knocks or bangs. It has new tyres and the wheels have also been refurbished.

The paint work is finished to a very high standard and although there are a few marks it is still very good indeed. Originally the headlights would have been mounted on the scuttle and, although fine as they are, these can be quite easily relocated should you wish.

The interior doesn't let the standard of this car down and is as good as the day it was fitted. The hood was also replaced and a full set of side screens are included in the sale.

We do have some history and paperwork, including the V5.

The car is MOT and TAX exempt, including ULEZ compliant.
